Ricoh 907 dropping developer on the page

I have a Print Shop with a Ricoh 907 with 2M copies on it dropping developer spots over the printed page. Image quality is good. The error codes are 400 and 420.

I was doing a routine PM when we got a 671 meaning a loss of communication with the logic board. We got that issue resolved. After that event the developer problem started shorty thereafter.

We have replaced the DICU board, several sensors and installed new developer unit and developer which lasts only about three weeks.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

ID sensor and drum potential errors. When you replaced the corona and grid did you get everything installed correctly?? also what condition is the drum and drum ground? you could have a problem with the CGB power pack as well.....

I have passed this onto to the local tech and will report back.

A customer has a Toshiba 905 with (2.7M copies) which did a very similar thing 2 weeks ago and the problem is not yet resolved Everything was fine. A routine PM was done which included new dev, new grids, new corona wires and new drum. Of course, I performed SP3905-001 for the drum, SP2801-001 for the dev, SP2207-002 for the toner bank and then SP2962 for process control. The machine then printed 3,000 large format duplex perfectly before coding out SC671. I removed the PSU-E (a&b), PSU-C, BICU and controller boards and cleaned/inspected them with a handheld microscope. I reseated all connectors on the IOB board. I checked the voltage test points and other points as per the schematics in the manual - all good. The SC671 went away and never came back. I was left with a good image but the machine is dumping developer over the page with SC400, SC420 and SC428. I replaced the drum potential sensor with a new one, ID sensor with a new one, and a new drum potential sensor board. I checked the PCU harness for continuities. Then I replaced the BICU board with a new one and then a brand new dev unit and new dev once again. I swapped out the CGP/PPG packs with known good ones. A new drum eliminated the SC428 and now I am dealing with exactly what you are... SC400 and SC420. Drum ground was checked and seemed ok for the type of ground it was... varying between 1.7 ohms and 4.4 ohms. There are two drum ground points 1) through the front bearing 2) through a brush near the drum motor. Neither perfect by design. I completely eliminated drum ground as a problem by attaching a copper wire to the frame and to the drum shaft with a loop with pressure applied. This was accomplished by running without the drum knob. I've tried disconnecting the HDD and using SP5831 (Initial Setting Mode Clear) to restore initial settings of all SP codes to their factory defaults (then SP2962). I'm still working on it. I thought I'd share and will keep you posted.

I would advise that you have the local techs set up their owns logins to CTN. Makes for a more efficient operation.

Yes, I advised him to do the same. Not all techs are as familiar at reaching out to copytechnet as I am.

            Thanks,
