MP C4503/C5503 intermittently blanking part of page.

I currently have 3 accounts experiencing this problem. The customers always have examples. It is only experienced when copying off the glass. When it does occur the customer can hit the the start button again and the next page comes out fine.I have not ever been able to duplicate the problem.
I'm hoping that someone else has seen this problem, and can offer some advice.

Try oriented the original differently on the glass. These models use the CCD output at the start of the scan to determine the width of the original. A large black area against the width scale can cause misread of width.

Is your enduser copying currency, stock certificates, or other "prohibited originals"?
If you'd like a serious answer to your request:
      1) demonstrate that you've read the manual
      2) demonstrate that you made some attempt to fix it.
      3) if you're going to ask about jams include the jam code.
      4) if you're going to ask about an error code include the error code.
      5) You are the person onsite. Only you can make observations.

My experience has been that this will give a black copy from the point at which it is detected. Nodle said blank.

I doubt it. He says they are able to get a good copy if they try again.

I had an issue like this recently where clients were scanning A3 sized glossy originals, the scanner was mis-detecting the size and thus blanking parts of the image. If you watch closely you can see the lamp not moving over the entire length of the page (platen only). I knew the scanner did it on two pages in particular of a booklet I had so I had a play with some of the settings in SP 4-309 individually, making sure to reset each one to default before moving on. I ended up with 4-309-001 lowered to 6, which detected one of the booklet pages correctly, but not the other. I kept going down to a value of 4

That was my initial thought also, but I thought that would black the page out.
To me it seems like when the customer is hurried and copying multiple pages on the glass the correct size isn't recognized and it will only print a portion while voiding the rest. The samples the customers show me look like it only prints 8.5x5.5 portion of the page.

I will give this a try. I have yet to be able to duplicate the problem.

That is the same as the machine I had trouble. I found that changing which edge of the original was against the scale corrected. I have to try SargeNZ suggestion if I have a problem again.
