    MPC 5502 SR3090 Not stapling.

    Hi. I may be missing something here but I took a finisher of a machine to put on another machine as the customer wanted an upstairs machine to staple. After a while they decided they wanted the old machine to have the stapler again so I got a finisher which is the correct one for this machine but it won't staple. I have tried it on another machine and it still does not and tried the old finisher on the machine and it does so the problem is definitely with the finisher.

    Does anyone know if I am missing something. The paper goes into the finisher and then when the stapler is suppose to do it snap snap the sheets paper is just thrown out. I have tried corner and side. Also if I do a test on output the stapler then activates so the motor is working.

    I am lost :0)

    Any ideas or maybe a dip switch or update? Thanks people.

      Does it make any attempt at stapling the paper ie any indentation marks? Have you watched it with the door open & what does it do?

          Hiya

          No, watched it with the door open and it put the paper in, then once the required amount has been put in it then just spews it out, does not attempt to staple. As if it has a setting to do so.

                  Paper should go down the finisher to r3-r4 section & line up with the jogger fences waiting for the stapler. Should staple then kick out - does your paper go into the holding tray or straight out into the top tray? - ignore you described what it does!

                  have you tried doing the firmware on it & does the stapler move into position?

                      Hi

                      It goes into the holding part ready to be stapled then once ready as such, quantity reached, it then kicks it out and does not attempt to staple.

                          I've had 1 machine have the staple unit motor harness disconnected for no apparent reason? Have a check to see if it's fully pushed in. Happened twice & still don't know why the connection was pulled out?

                          also can't remember if it's this model finisher but also check the grey harness for damage.
