Ricoh MP8001 LCT tray not lifting or recognising paper is present

    Hi everyone,

Just needed some help with a MP8001, where the LCT tray is saying that there is no paper present. Iv also noticed after closing the tray that the motor does not lift. Now I'm guessing if there was a problem with the lift motor it would throw an error code?
So far I have removed the the LCT trays and checked over the harness on the rear of the machine and back of the tray. Everything looks ok with no visible damage. Iv then Replaced the harness on the back of the tray, which is a bit of a pain.
So before I order any more parts, is there anything else that I should check or replace?

    Cheers

    Nick

The Tray Lift Sensor is blocked...(It is the sensor located near the feed roller).
Check also if paper pick up roller arm is "locked down"....

i'd recommend swap paper feed unit #2 to feed station #1. Also, check the right tandem tray rear bracket(brown color) for broken tab.

If anything is interfering with either if the 2 end fences of the right tray, the one that open to allow the paper to move from left to right, the lift motor will not turn on and there will not be an error code. There are two sensors on a brackets for each end fence that detect the position of the flag arm on the end fences. One detects if the fence is open, the other detects if the fence is at home position. If one of the ones for home position id bad, the paper will not lift and no code will be displayed. If one of the ones for open is defective. The paper will not be moved from left to right and no code will be displayed. I have also seen one of the solenoids that open the fences fail and the paper will not be moved, again no code.
