    MPC5502 A?

I'm pretty sure I know the answer to this, but the owner of our company wants me to ask: Is it possible to take an MPC5502 and make a 5502A by swapping doc feeders or are the boards different? I have an MPC4502A that is junk except for the doc feeder. Wondering if anyone has attempted this. Thanks in advance.

The answer is NO. Not possible. There is no connector for the A doc feeder on the board where it plugs in.

      Re: MPC5502 A?

In what way is the mp c4502A junk? It might be easier to use the MP C4502 as a parts source to make the MP C4502A fully operational.

As for trying to move the SPDF:
      • Engine firmware if different
      • IPU is different
      • BCU is different
      • Rack:Application:Front:right is different
      • Some covers on the scanner different
      • Some wiring harnesses are most likely different
      • There will probably be SP setting that will have to be changed. There will probably be SP settings for the CIS that the correct values will need to be entered. I not certain but I believe these values are specific to the characteristics of the individual CIS.
      • I do not know if engine firmware would need to be updated before or after moving parts and making SP settings.
      • It might actually crater the machine trying to change firmware.

I do not think that they ever made an optional update to SPDF. If they did, it would have the instructions.

Thanks for the response slimslob. I got to looking at the a and non-a and figured there were at least two boards that were different. When I say "junk" machine I mean a box with too many copies to refurb for the sales department. I just keep them for parts when they get a lot of copies on them.
