This can be a faulty controler , bad firmware , bad fuser, fax or ardf also.
Try to take out/disconect fuser, pcu unit, ardf to gain acces.
Measure with multimeter the power unit voltages maybe somwhere you will find a lack indicating the protection mechanism for the related part.

On older machines Diagnostic mode helped me (hold # and . at power up) maybe work also on 3003 but i not tryed yet.
On some other machines ex.mpc7500 diagnostic mode is
the * and # buttons and switch on the machine

I tried this as well. There was no change in the state of the machine. Im really leaning towards a bad control board

Yes I tried to update firmware via SD card and it will not boot off the card or start the firmware upload.

Im really leaning towards a bad control board. Sending it into hytec tomorrow to have it checked.

At one point this morning I tried a different control panel with no change. I should note I did at one point get a SC672-12 but only after messing around with the USB cable that connects the control panel to the IPU. That was a one off code that I believe was triggered by me unplugging the USB.

Try replacing the NV-RAM on the controller.Last 2 cases for me faulty nv ram.

just a quick question ... you didn't happen to have had the nv ram / counter chips out of this machine? if you put them back in without matching up the notches this will happen. machine will sit in please wait forever. i had one of my techs do this once already so ...

            UPDATE:

I found the issue today. The ADF PCB was bad and locking up the copier. As soon as I unplugged the ADF from the copier the machine booted and worked normally - Plug it back in and "Please Wait" screen was back.

I'm sending the board to Hytec for repair. Thanks everyone for the suggestions. Beers on me

Well new PCB came in today and still same issue. I wish I had another ADF available to test. Cable test out ok as well. I will keep looking and update with my findings

Not related but could be something similar - I once had a C901 lock up (I don't remember details on how) and it ended being one of the fusing exit sensors shorted out against the fuser barebones.

Maybe you've got a shorted wire or sensor. Try unpluging every ADF sensor, wire and motor and then plug them in one at a time.

Could be the main frame side of the ADF connection.

Yeah I was thinking that as well. I unplugged all the sensors and motors from the ADF PCB and still locks up. Im thinking the PCB:SIO maybe.

Might be the wrong doc feeder.
I had the same condition on a C5502A that came preconfigured with the Single Pass DF.
I swapped the ARDF from a working C3502 onto the 5502 and it came up with "please wait" forever.
The Single Pass DF had 2 connections on the interface board of the 5502.
The interface board on the 3502 only had one socket for the single connector that plugged right into the socket on the 5502.
The 3003/3503 is configured for the ARDF.
The 4503/5503 is configured for the SPDF.

There is at least 1 PCB that is different on a machine with the SPDF. Plus at least 1 additional PCB. Take a look in the parts catalog. I also think that the board for the 3502 is not the same as for the 5502.

Do you try to start with the ardf pcb (D7795100 PCB:MAIN CONTROL:ASS'Y) disconected ?

Yes with that PCB unplugged the machine starts up just fine. I just received the PCB:SIO D1495138 and no change. Machine has been sitting in the please wait screen for 25 min now. I'm really thinking I have a bad ADF. I unplugged all the sensors and motors from the ADF Control PCB and still will not boot. I'm really at a loss here.

                              So far I have tried........
                              HDD unplugged
                              Reseat all connections
                              New ADF PCB
                              New PCB:SIO
Fax option both installed and uninstalled

Only thing that will allow the machine to come up is the ADF cable unplugged from either the ADF PCB or PCB:SIO. I did a continuity test on the cable and all the wires tested out good. (No breaks or loose inside)

TIA for any help and thanks to everyone for helping thus far.

                              Mitch

                                Ok
Your scan pcb can be ok but the ardf part may not, so you say the machine start up with the scaner pcb connected and the ardf pcb disconnected but you tried also to scan from the glass?? you can scan without problems?

I had the same issue with a 3503 and after i disconnected the ardf i scaned from the scaner glass easy without the ardf part
(also i found the on off sensor blocked after i open up the ardf, behind the right hinge)
Try to see also if the motors from the ardf starts turning you can leave the ardf without the plastics covers (and/or leave it open to give an error).

The ardf not reach the ready status for some reason and the machine wait to infinite the ready status.

After you take out the ardf pcb and started the machine you checked the last error codes in the service menu?
Do you make the lastest firmware for the adf unit?
You tried to update firmware to version 01.300:03 D7795300J?
                                ex..errors corected
Lifting up the ADF during initialization may cause JAM14 in the process following the initialization.
