TIA for any help and thanks to everyone for helping thus far.

To me that points squarely at the cable, it may have continuity but pin(s) shorted out somewhere.

Nothing works quite so well that I can't totally disable it by trying to make it a little better.

Either that, or the copier cable/connector, or it is the wrong DF as someone already suggested...

I may be reading the 3D parts diagram wrong but it appears to me that the DF cable is D6845010 and the same part is used on the MP2501 ARDF2020 although the PCB is different. Just in case you have one in the shop that you can borrow the part from.

I'm going into left field again so please bear with me.
If the cable does not solve the problem, check the part number on the BCU.

The C3003 BCU is D1475114 and the ARDF3090 plugs into the SIO.
When the SPDF3080 option is installed, the subIPU D1505656 and the BCU D1505114 are installed from the kit.
          The SPDF has two cables.
One cable plugs into the subIPU and the other cable plugs into the SIO.
The eprom is transferred from the old BCU to the new one and the machine serial number is re-entered.

If the SPDF is removed and the original BCU is not reinstalled, the machine will not boot with the single cable of the ARDF plugged into the SIO and nothing plugged into the subIPU.

            Just an Update:

I have tried a new cable and still nothing. We just purchased another MPc3003 (used off lease) to trouble shoot the problem. I will update the thread as soon as I receive that machine and find a solution. I will not let this machine beat me.

HUGE thanks to everyone throwing out suggestions

              Final UPDATE:

Machine is repaired and back in business. Ended up being a bad BCU PCB. I swapped it with the parts machine I received and it came right up (other than a SC 995 for S/n not matching).

HUGE thanks to everyone that had suggestions and I hope this will help others if needed.

Thanks for the update. How did you get round the serial number sc995 mismatch?

There is an SP for that.

                    Exactly SP5811-004

It just needs to match the machine S/N

WAAAAAYYYYY TOO MANY 03's falling over with weird assed errors lately.
Had one 2 weeks ago that was dead apart from the power LED.
Turned out to be the op panel.
Another 3 that have had faults with the shared fusing/paper exit motors early in their life.
Not a fan...and don't get me started on the 5054 with it's craptacular pm cycle

I'm sure he'll be so pleased to hear that 5 years after the fact - even though the initial post states that the HDD was replaced at the outset

Didn't spot that bit! It wasn't a reply anyway, just an observation for others...
