I have a 2018 that when making copies from the glass, I get a dark sky shot like band on the rear side of the copy. I have seen this problem on the 1018 copiers and have never been able to figure out the cause

Is it only from the the glass?
How about when you print a counter sheet or use the adf?Comment

Could you share a picture? I don't think I've ever seen that exact problem before. In the mean time, you might want to replace the transfer roller. At least without actual troubleshooting information that's what I'd try next. But that is just an uninformed guess.Comment

Re: Ricoh 1018/2018 PCQ
As I understand well, the back side of a single printout is black.
If this is so => transfer problem
which can be caused by a bad pcu (worn?) OR a bad transfer roller position or the grounding of it.
Also if many jams happens the transfer roller get dirty quickly and causing this problem to.Comment

It's coming from the transfer roller. You can turn on transfer roller cleaning, but it's been my experience that a developer change is the only remedy for this. Be sure and set developer according to procedure.NEVER ASSUME ANYTHINGComment

Re: Ricoh 1018/2018 PCQ
If the dark band is only when copying from the glass then another possibility is that the white platen sheet is deformed/rippled or not sitting flush with the scanner surface . It will allow room light through and give you that condition. Would help to post an image and a few more details.Comment
