    C5503 address book

Hi, All. I just got a c5503 in, and using the WIM when I click on "add user" in the address book I get a "404 not found" error. Printer config page shows the HDD exists, and the machine has been reset in factory mode sp5846-46. Can anyone shed some light on why this is happening?

Have you tried using a different browser?

Yes, Chrome and Firefox. I can log into the wim just fine and make changes just like always, except when I click "add User" in the address book. As far as I can tell, administrator authentication functions are Off.

I've heard of similar issues where the web firmware was not "up to speed" so to speak, with the rest of the machine.

The version it has was valid, but didn't match the level of its cousins.

I had an Autostore install a few years back that was similar, on a brand new 03 machine. The setup shop flashed some, but not all of the pieces, and Autostore refused to install. Once it was all on the same proverbial page, life was good. Possibly unrelated, possibly not.

About 12 years ago, I had an issue with some new Canon machines. In that case, the webpage (or, "RUI" in Canon speak), was a version behind, and it failed to even open until flashed.

Try logging in as Administrator and then add Address Book entries.... if you're still getting the error, you might need to update the WEB UAPL FIRMWARE. Latest version is v1.04.5.

            Re: C5503 address book

I just updated firmware to the latest and greatest including webuapl, no joy. I checked the wim function sp modes, nothing is disabled or restricted. Sigh.

Update: The problem is with Chrome. I just tried Firefox again with the updated firmware and it now will allow me to add addresses, Chrome will not.
Thanks for all the input guys. I think I will head to the homestead on that note. Have a great weekend.

Mika try formatting the hard drive then initialize the address book with 5846. Had a unit a while back that a tech replaced the hard drive and when I entered a new user from the wim it didn't show in user tools and vise versa.

There are SP settings that might be incorrect.
                  SP 5416
SP 5846-041 Execute to make address book accessible on a new HDD
SP 5846-050 Initialize all address books
SP 5985 Should be set to 1 if set to 2 will cause problems in WIM

I tried an update to Chrome with no success. I had to reinsatall the browser to get it to work right, but all is good now..

Try to go ADMINISTRATOR TOOLS---EXTENDED SECURITY...I think address book is in PROHIBIT mode.

You may experience Address Book errors like that if Service mode lock is active.

We had an MP4002 to the exact same thing this morning, and it turned out to be service mode lock that was switched on. "404 Not found" was the result, until we turned off service mode lock, then all was well.
