Microsoft update effecting SLNX and GSNX

Just a heads up in case you run into this.

A few days ago I had an issue with Streamline (this is version 2.3, but I doubt that it matters), where the customer called and said their scannning with SLNX stopped working.

Print and copy were OK; they don't fax.

I saw there was an issue with the PDFs not being created, and causing errors. As I test, I created a new profile that scanned to .tif, and it was OK.

All this magically started on Monday morning, and, yes, the customer applies their server patches on Sunday night.

To make a long story short, the SFM service was running under the service account that had been created. Once I switched it to use the "system" account, life was good.

The service account is still good, as AAM, ADM, SPM, and RG are still using it.

I was told by support that this happened to other installs too, and that the same fix worked for them.

All I know at this point is that it was most likely a Microsoft server patch (2012), but I have nothing to back that theory up with.

This has been a public service announcement.
