    AF2018/2020 & MP2000le Fusing Jams

I've been having a spate of fusing jams (not regular) on a few of these machines. Seems to occur only on machines using the D/F and copies taken were not from dark coloured originals. Is there anything I need to check? I've tried replacing the H/R strippers which seemed to work its confusing as the problem isn't consistent.... Pls advice

Presuming that your fuser is in good condition the first thing I'd try is to increase the lead edge erase, SP2101, then fit heavier springs to the strippers, sorry but their part number excapes me at the moment.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

        A well known weak point.

        Some additional infos:

        - install the latest fw (important for A2018 series)
        - bend the stripper pawl stoppers to reduce play
        - if the customer agree: bolt the paper cassete side fences to avoid skew feeds

As it's so inconsistant, you could always have a look at the paper, damp paper causes all sorts of issues.

Firmware will really help with the 201x series machines, just remember that the firmware is unique for the 2015-2018 and the 2016-2020. Load the wrong firmware and it's tough to get back to an operating machine without series issues. The updated fingers and springs also help quite a bit on the older machines. On the MP version they're already installed, but they're still a weak point. Good luck.

I just had one in the field that had the frame that the finger pivots on was busted. I've got the case on order, but I just pulled out that finger in the mean time.

if they keep using damp paper fit tray heaters and i add a 2/3mm mylar to the fuser exit guide the one they moded by making it longer what they should do is make it longer still this pushes the paper beter into the exit /inverter gate 99% sucsess doing this but its not a pritty fix

By the way, do you know what type of SD card i have to use to upgrade firmware on a 2018 MFP? Is it a specific card from Ricoh, or i can use something else? (An FC with its applicator for laptop for ex.??) I am a little bit confused about that...
