    MPC6003 SC866-00

    Hi All,
I have a workshop MP C6003 thats used as a test box / emergency loaner and it worked well until our IT galahs borrowed it to trial some Extended Features Programme on it and now it says SC 866-00 and Error opt. 30 mod. along the bottom of the screen.

    SD866-00 SD Card Authentication Error.

So far I've gone User Tools / Extended Features / Uninstall. Then formatted then swapped the HDD and did a SP5801 memory clear but the red light is still there.
Now the IT boys swear that they removed their trial programme and so we are now working on the theory that the MFC has been told to look for a licence number when it fires up but since it can't find anything it gives an SC error.

    Any bright ideas?

    ..... Sound's like fun.....

What was the test software IT had installed ?
Was it HDD encryption, globalscan , java, PostScipt ?

Did someone migrate Postscript onto a single SD card and then take off with the wrong SD card ?

Nothing simple like reinitialising the Address book or anything like that ?
Did some one turn off soft-switch Ethernet or USB port during the software test?

Did they have the controller board out of the machine ?

Since they were working with extended features, sounds like they may have cratered the JAVA on the controller. Check if they were rubbing an App from a SD card and failed to stop and uninstall it from extended features before removing it from the SD card.

        Hi Neo,
What ever our IT plonkers did to the MP C6003 was over 6 months ago and since they have an attention span of a goldfish I have buckleys of finding out what they used it for.

I presume it was either Equatrac or Papercut with Java involved in there somewhere. Yes, there is a high chance they walked off with a SD card. And, no, they didn't take the controller card out as I don't let them use screwdrivers as I don't trust them with sharp objects.

I'll have another look at the Address Book and investigate Ethernet and USB ports but I don't think thats the right direction. I feel I need to get the copier too forget it had any extras loaded on to it.

I think your heading in the right direction there Slim, but without the appropriate SD card how do I recover the machine? How do I fill in a Java crater?

The MP C6003 is supposed to use a GW+ controller which has embedded JAVA VM. If the machine has some other SD card installed, check what it is to be sure it is not a JAVA card or a Web Access card with Extended JAVA. As long as it does not have JAVA on it, see if it will start without the SD card. The IT might have used an existing option card to load the extended feature they were testing and in removing it destroyed the license data on the card. Replacement SD cards for most options can be order through parts. Some actually have the part number printed on the label.
