An All clear would be a really bad idea - unless they changed the firmware it will clear the serial number and the language selection - you will end up with a SC195 and when you get that cleared, you get a screen with all the graphics on it, but no text. Like I said, I had to get an engineer on the phone to completely recover the machine. An Engine clear is safe.
Crazy - I admit that I haven't tried a Memory All Clear at this particular machine but on some others and never had these kind of trouble. I used the NV-Ram Data Upload/Downlod function what is maybe the reason why I had no trouble.

I done plenty of all clears, and on most machines its perfectly safe, but the 3800 is definately not, and given the trouble I had recovering it i'd be afraid to try with a 7000. We obviously didn't have the option to up/down the nvram after it was already cleared, but I suspect that would have brought it back. I was just thankful the machine was alive and wasn't about to try it.

Once I had to replace a BCU NV Ram in a MPC2500 - without any backup because a berk messed some things up. The machine was talking chinese or japanese inside the SP mode and started with a SC code. As far as I remember I've programmed the serial number and the marketing area stuff to solve this issue.

That would be an interesting discussion: British English vs. American English vs. Redneck English.
