    [CQ] Ricoh MP5000 CQ

I did a PM on this machine about 4 months ago because the copies were too light . I did developer and drum and followed procedures. I can go out there and tone it up but within a couple weeks its under toned.I tried increasing the toner rate, but maybe I'm leaving something out. I work on a couple of these machines and this is the only one giving me trouble. thanks

Did you scrub the mag roller before you installed the developer

        excuse me for my english

        Copy or print?
        both?

If it is a copy, it happened once the dirty lens cleaned it and improved 80%
Maybe it would be nice to clean it but back
I have a service for the same August 1 and I hope this is what I previously worked.

If it is impression threshold the magentico per eplo in Toshiba solved the problem of shadow or clarity

        Maybe it's the same

On another occasion increase the toner rate but then call because it gets very dark

The Ricoh pig box. Still very dependable overall, just likes to dust. Been that way since the 450 days.

A few things to look at:

Clean the laser slit glass. The machine likes to dust & it gets dirty.

You have to clean the mag roller. I use a golf brush, but any wire brush or even scotch brite will work. You'll probably start getting background & have to change the DV again. A DV change is the most common CQ fix on this model, so you ought to do it anyway. Doesn't really matter about the copy count.

Clean the optics if prints are good, but copies are light.

Check out the laser assy. Usually you'll see a difference between copy & print CQ. They use different dpi settings. If you have to vacuum it out & don't have a brush attachment for your vac, figure something else out. Be very careful not to scratch the mirrors. Once you scratch a mirror, you have to replace the entire assy. I've never been able to replace just the mirror without getting Sc codes. You might be a better tech.

Then you're pretty much left with the toner add system, which is pretty reliable.

EDIT: Just realized this was on an Mp5000, not a 5002. Same general rules should still apply, but I only see a couple of these each year.

We have 3035/MP3500/MP5000/5001/5002 all in the field and they all seem to suck pretty equally. I think the 4002/5002 is slightly better than the rest but I hate them all.

I am so glad that they killed that design and replaced it with the MP5054/5055 machines. Such an improvement.

thanks for all the input . I went back to the machine and cleaned the mag roller . I didn't know the color of the mag roller was supposed to be silver, the roller was so evenly coated in black. Anyway that solved the problem.

Glad you solved it.Its worth giving it a clean every visit as it builds up quite quickly depending on the volume there're doing

I usually also de-assemble the development unit, getting out the mixing auger and clean the metal grid very well,
if it is clogged, you will get a dirty machine very quickly.
This machine is a piece of sh*t:
much time spent on interventions, expensive parts not lasting long, and no matter what you do, there are always dots on the prints!

So you clean the mag roller every visit without replacing the developer?
I have try that a few times and there where issues ...

Yes they should always be a shiny silvery color. These machines and the models build on the same engine concept are the only ones I've seen get pure solid black though.

If the black is just toner and wipes right off with a clean dry cloth, it is ok. If it is a shiny black coating that does not wipe off, it needs cleaning.
