MPC 2051 with a sc 899 and need info on firmware version needed to update.

i just installed a mpc 3502 and the account had an older mpc2051 that he was getting 899 codes.
I kinda stay away from just updating firmware after a few blown up BICU boards on other models i fix.
i had the account take a pic of the firmware loaded and if all points to a firmware issue i will update it

If you check on the TSRC site, there is a custom PCL firmware just for SC899 codes. I have successfully used it many times on different models.

Updating all fw will resolve your sc899 issues, this is caused by a print job the mfp doesn't understand so it throws tbe errror.
It is very rare that updating fw will blow any board, but you can reduce the risk by unplugging the machine from the network & leave from door open when updating.

thanks..Like other seasoned techs here I no longer work for "the mother ship" and rely on others techs.
i always do the FW updates with nic disconnected but never with front door open..
does anyone know which version of PCL is the one needed?
I think the last one i got was over a year ago.

I think the last one i got was over a year ago.

Custom/special firmware, PCL v1.06 LR004 was a temporary fix. It has been replace by PCL v1.08.

i try to update using a supposed d104 FW WITH a B2215601S .fwu file but kept gettin E36 invalid file,
shouldnt it be a d104 or d105 file? reformatted sd card and tried 2 diff ones wth same issue

That's because you're trying to install C3500/4500 System F/W
Yes, most of the C2051/2551 start with D104/D105/D106 just like in your screenshots.
The Updated PCL F/W is D1065739H
