MPC8002 - Cover open error, but no cover indicated

    Good day

We have this box at a customer, complete with LCT. The customer called to say they had a misfeed, and after recovering the misfeed, the device insists that there is a cover open, complete with graphic on the display - but without telling which cover.

The field tech did his best to faultfind this problem, including upgrading all the firmware, and disconnecting all the peripherals (including the ADF) to try and isolate the fault.

Still we are at a loss....

Has anyone seen something similar on this range and managed to fix it?

It sounds to me like a logic problem, as opening and closing the LCT doors causes it to cycle, but no warnings reflect on the display....??

Not mentioned in the bulletin visible on the first picture is a release lever at the front of the transport belt unit from the PTR to the fusing entrance, blue in the picture about half way between circle A and circle B. There is a tab on it that actuates a sensor when it is latched in home position. If that tab has been broken off while removing a paper jam it will indicate door open. Have encountered it twice.

Since machine was working without any indication before misfeed I think it could be hardware problem.
Customer recovered misfeed means he opened some covers / modules and afterwards message started.
So it could be damaged / dislocated interlock or cramped / damaged wiring or some broken part ( Actuator type).
          Need to check thoroughly.
          Hope this helps

            You guys are AWESOME!

It was one of the sensors mentioned in the RTB!

Would have never found it based on the service manual!

            Thanks a million!!
