    MP C4503

I have a Lanier MP C4503 that will not come out of energy saver mode. The customer is having to turn the machine off and then back on to get it running again. Doesn't matter if you let the machine go into energy saver mode or press the energy saver button, once it's asleep for a few minutes it locks up. Updated firmware to no avail, anybody else come across anything like this?

    Which frimwar have you updated?
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Try flashing the full package firmware or update all the rest of them individually. The Firmware History mentions that the Fax, FCU and Network Support firmware also could have bugs that cause this problem.

Have all been firmware files updated? Check smc sp-5-990-004 for unspecific sc codes. Nv-ram upload (backup), then Memory clear all - just for testing. If problem stays, nv-ram restore. Please upload the smc list here for diagnostic.

If you can't update the package firmware, you have to update all new rom data fw files first to update the package file. In case of older machines.

And check sleep mode timer as well...

              • Do the following if the customer would like to disable the Sleep Mode Timer or increase the timer length:
                Disable "Sleep Mode Timer"
When this timer is disable and the name of Sleep Mode Timer is greyed out in User Tools, the machine does not enter the sleep mode.
< >Set SP5-305-101 to a value of 0 to display Sleep Mode Entry by Sleep Timer setting on the User tools.
Set the Sleep Mode Entry by Sleep Timer setting to "Disabled" in User Tools.Make sure that the Sleep Mode Timer is greyed out.
                Set SP5-305-101 to a value of 0.
              • Make sure that the Sleep Mode Entry by Sleep Timer setting is "Enable"
              • Select a setting between 1 to 240min.

Updated all firmware, installed package firmware, cleared the NVRAM, and the mfp still locks up after it goes into energy saver mode. Hotline suggested controller and set SP 5191 to 0. I'll update after I've changed the SP.

Package firmware only replaces those modules that are not at the current version. It will not repair corrupted firmware. That requires the use of individual modules.
