Thanks. Yes, I've seen that bulletin before, but I've had no SC codes, nor do I see an issue with the overall image density?

      Hi there!
Had a similar problem with a MPC 2003, colours have 20k, but 41/2 years old. Only way was to change color-dev & -drums.
      Greetings...

        Greetings...
It just struck me that both of these units that I refurbished and delivered a year or 2 ago, are doing extremely low colour usage - literally 100 pages/month or less.

I've never had any issues like this with other C300/400 machines that have more regular usage.

Any thoughts on how that might be the cause?

Once again, it's not an issue that's currently affecting day-to-day printing, but I feel that it's likely to at some point, without some resolution. And even if it doesn't, I'm just curious at this point

** Side note: In one of the locations they also have a C 2051 that's done nearly 200K B&W, and 110K colour and never had a PCU. They're a time and materials customer, so I kind of wish something would go wrong

            UPDATE......
I went back to one of the locations today.
I hadn't actually pointed out my findings to them the other day, and it turns out that they had in fact experienced print defects- but only when printing on thick or glossy paper which they actually do quite often (and yes, they use the correct settings in the driver).
Apparently, They just didn't want to 'bother me', which is nothing new for this location. I practically have to beg them to call if they have a problem, but as long as the machine's not down completely, they seldom will.
Man is that ever the exception to MOST of locations I have!
Anyway, for whatever reason, by the time I went back, it only seemed to be the magenta that was leaving a double image, rather than all 4 that were showing on the colour test print from last week, and it also seemed to be solely magenta smudges that appeared on the samples they had printed some time ago.
I swapped in a low-usage PCDU and the issue was resolved.
I'm pretty sure it is the drum portion and not the developer unit that's the issue, but I've not had the opportunity to confirm it. It was just easier to pop in the entire unit.

I dont know if there is info out there with ricohs but HP used to have a measured distance page that
would tell you if the double image was 75cms it would mean drum,60cms Upper fuser and on and on.
You could measure the circumference of the drum, the upper fuser, lower fuser etc etc.
I am not sure if i am explaining this clearly

                Thanks Andy.
Yes, It makes sense, but it's usually easy enough to stop the page before the fuser anyway. And in the case of this machine, the fusing belt is 2-3 times the diameter of the drum, so I was sure from the outset that it wasn't a fuser issue.
It just struck me as strange (and it still does) that all 4 colours were ghosting, and only on the highest resolution. I'd just never seen that type of defect before

Yes generally the service manual will have a section called "repeating defect" or something similar.
