Ricoh Aficio 2018 Toner Motor

Why does the toner motor only operate while in fixed mode? It will not work when in censor mode, or when I force feed toner via 2207. However, it will run when I activate the 5804 operation to run the toner motor. Any help appreciated. Thank you.

what SENSOR tells the hopper to add toner to the DEV unit?

start with service mode 2-221 and look at vt and vts and see if vt is higher then vts reading if so should added toner. vt is reading from the tds sensor. might what to check and make sure toner is not pile on top of it. they can go bad might need to replace it. Could also be bad developer in pcu unit. how many copies are on it only good for 60,000 copies

In sensor mode two things determine when to turn on the motor. The toner density on the bottom of the development unit and the ID sensor. A bad TD sensor will cause the problem you describe as will a dirty of defective ID sensor.
