MP5000 print jobs dont complete

I have a friend who has a client that they have two xp workstations printing to a MP5000. When they send a print job to the machine it prints half the job and it stops, both computers tell me the copier is offline. But on the copier itself printing says online.

Any ideas? I haven't been to the account because it's quiete a distance.
I told him first try to update firmware.Next try printing from your laptop with a crossover cable and see if you have the same results if you do it might be the print controller.

*my other guess is if the customer is using a crappy router/switch such as a Belkin model which is known for packet loss and connectivity problems*

First thing I'd try is turning the network speed down on the machine to 10MBPS and seeing where you go from there, the 1224 was a bugger for doing this sort of thing. I've done this on an account that has about 80 1224/1232's and it seems to have done the trick.
