    Please Help -- Gestetner Dsc224

Does this machine have a setting for a distinctive ring pattern when accepting a fax? If so where can I access it?

    Thanks

Nothing in the specs, user tools or SP modes that I can find. What do you need this for?

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

I had to move the copier from an office to a home office, and there is only one phone line for voice & fax. The line is setup with an automatic voicemail, and the fax will not pick it up when it is sent. I have an HP that was setup with the ring decipher feature. I'm just surprised that this unit does not have it. Thanks for your help though. I appreciate the quick response.

The MFP was marketed in the business, not home market...thus the lack of the feature that home office HP devices have. That being said...have them get one of these or something similar:

ComSwitch 3.0 Automatic Line Switcher w/TeleZapper
        • TeleZapper detects computer dialers
        • Automatically removes your number from phone lists
        • Routes calls to a fax machine or answerer
ComSwitch 3.0 Automatic Line Switcher w/TeleZapper, Switches, Phone Accessories, Phones, Hello Direct

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.

We have a set up out here called "Duet" Basically its one physical phone line with two phone numbers. Ring one number for a voice call and the phone exchange sends out one type of ring pattern. Ring the other number for a fax and a different ring pattern is used.
The fax can be set differentiate between the two ring patterns using NCU parmeters 09 and 10.
Suggest you contact your local telco for more info and some one in the States to give you the values to set the NCU parameters too as the ones I use in Oz wont work for you.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.
