Hi guys, I have SC860-00 on Ricoh MPC8003. I maintain several such machines but never had this code before and that’s why I need your help 😊 When I do HDD format the result is FAILED. I put another HDD’s (the same size 2x320GB) from MPC4503 but the result is FAILED again and still have the SC code. What HDD’s are compatible for this machine or what else should I do? Any advice is welcome…Thanks in advance

Start by updating the firmware then fit a NEW hard drive if you have one, if not format a used one in a USB caddy etc that should work.

did you order this part?
D2235308
or are you just trying to use any hard drive?
i don't believe a hard drive from a mp c4503 would work in a mp c8003. just guessing, since the mp c8003 is just about the same as the mp c6503, other than speed? i would think there would be more stuff different on the hard drive for the production machine. but like i said i am guessing. i don't know for certain.Comment

You have to replace both drives with NEW drives. The drives you took out of MP C4503s already have label data written to them that is not compatible with the C8003. The label data contains the make, model and serial number of the machine it was first formatted in. It also identifies whether it is drive 1 or drive 2 When you power on the MFP it checks to see if there is anything written to the label data sector of each drive. If there is and it is the wrong, it errors out. If there is nothing(as with brand new drives), it then creates the correct label for each drive and prepares them for use.👍 3Comment

This computer has two hard drives, each one of 320 GB, if you replace them they have to be both exactly the same, identical not only in capacity but also in brand, disk model and if the disk label contains any other information (sub model, firmware) they also have to be the same, when the copier formats the disk it converts them into a single 640 GB disk, that is why they must match their characteristics.👍 2Comment
