MP C4503 DIAGNOSTICS & FW UPGRADE

There is nothing i can do, neither enter through diagnostics nor to perform a firmware upgrade. It is not under any Administrator mode control, no Service Lock option enabled. It lets me only once, after a switch on/off to get into SP mode. But if i try an in and out, it doesn't let me in again! Same happens with User Tools. FW Upgrade by SD card doesn't work, by choosing the file it sounds two beeps all the time. Tried with WIM, it says the machine is busy. Ricoh Firmware Tool also. HDD format didn't help either. It works normal as a scanner, printer, copier. Does anyone have had something similar to this?

In a similar situation, I removed the hard drive and the fax and it let me in.
    change disk, update firmware.

I removed both of them and replace HDD! Firmware cannot be updated, something blocks everything immediately after Control set up. Thanks a lot for your reply MIGUELMARCHENA.

Sounds like it's in some sort of "logic loop" (That's the term I use to define a problem with a machine that I can't really explain ).
If it were me, and I'd done everything else I could think of, I'd back up the address book and system settings, and then do a memory clear on all components EXCEPT ENGINE., then try again

Sounds like there might be some JAVA app installed. Until it has finished initializing, you cannot do anything in SP, WIM or User Tools except print the counter sheet. If the app is set to be the default screen function you cannot use any of the functions. It can take 7 minutes or more just for JAVA to initialize. Once JAVA initializes you should be able to get into User Tools - Extended Features. Halt everything.

Yes, it was JAVA app installed, blocking everything. I was trying to remove it with WIM but finally I unistalled this app by changing at : 1. Factory Mode 2. SP 5730-001 Extended Function Setting from 1 to 0. Many thanks, it was not an easy case!!!
