You may want to check to see if the machine is set to pixil count for image density. SP 2206 I believe.
I had a machine kick my behind awhile ago, the image kept going light about a month after a dv and drum change. It turns out a previous tech. (Trying to save money on parts) change the machine to pixle count. Yes he was successful in keeping his parts usage down, but in the end cost me a whole lot more. (sorry this paragragh belongs in Rants)

Yeh good suggestion, have actually tried this to see if it works better, but goes light anyway as you said.
To ensure a good seal at the front of the PCU I normally remove the spring on the shutter where the toner falls through the PCU and into the dev unit, make sure the foam seal is good, slide the shutter to the front, press the PCU onto the dev unit and lock them together with a self tapping screw through the in the tab just to the left of the shutter. This stops toner getting on top of the laser unit and messing up the laser diodes.
To clean the mag roller just use the dev in the unit as an abrasive before you change the dev!
Ricoh (UK) have now issued an RTB stating that the 2nd cleaner blade is no longer fitted at the factory (!) on MP4000s due to increased drum wear(!!)
We've not been fitting them since the 1st service on the first AF2045 machines!!

I took care of 28 of AF2045 machines in 42 months with 2nd blade always on. I had no problems related to the blade. Customers extremely please with machine performances. just completed PM every 150K with Drum,Developer changed. I don't know why some Techs had problems with it. Some machines had about 650K meter clicks.
