"ass'y" interpretations by Ricoh ... not an ass'y at all!

I experience that when Ricoh indicate something with an "ass'y", that sometimes it is still not the whole unit, but a part of the total ass'y.
F.i. D573 2902 "PAPER TRAY: ASS'Y" (mpc307 opt. tray) indicates the label on the box.
But there is a lot of swapping that needs to be done. So, not an ass'y at all!
We sometimes ordered the mpc2050 ass'y paper tray and that one was a real ass'y .
So, sometimes it is not, and sometimes it is.
A little complicated if you ask me, especially when one don't have a (good) parts cat.

Technically speaking anything that has two or more part that can be ordered separately is an assembly, ass'y.

As an example from the automotive industry, a short block is an ass'y that includes pistons, connecting rods and crank shaft but usually does not include a cam shaft, lifters, push rods, cylinder heads, manifolds, timing gears, etc.

I think it would make it easier when Ricoh indicate "complete" when a part is "ready to go" and ass'y when it has been partly assembled but not complete yet.

I think most stuff that contains multiple, orderable parts are considered as an assy from an ricoh point of view. Sometimes the wording can imply "more" than you will get

If you know how to read their parts catalogs, they do. Of course the older catalogs were far superior and less confusing.

Like the MP C3003 transfer ass'y that doesn't come with the cleaning unit!

Big improvement with the IMC range all user user replaceable units.

You would love Konica Minolta & Kyocera most major units are complete assy's
