Re: Strange problem IM C300 + Wifi = SC899
We are seeing a bunch of 899's also. One of our guys said Ricoh's not ready for prime time toner icons is the cause. The widget has a java conflict. I followed his suggestion and works so far.
1. See if they are running any java apps (a vast majority are not, I think we may have 1-2 total using java apps)
2. Turn off java SP5730
3. Exit service and reboot machine
If they are running java apps from Ricoh I'm guessing the apps will stop working if java is off.I've proved mathematics wrong. 1 + 1 doesn't always equal 2.........

Re: Strange problem IM C300 + Wifi = SC899
If I understand you correctly, you took their network out of the equation (which is what I was about to suggest before re-reading it), and everything was fine??
I was going to suggest connecting your laptop directly with an ethernet cable and try printing over tcp/ip - using the full/ proper driver package, and if it works, this would prove it.
Have you checked the printer properties on any/ all of their PC's and determined what Driver/ port is being used?
I also don't see Java in the firmware list, and if I'm not mistaken, it's an optional feature on this series, so that may remove it from being the cause, but I've not dealt with these yet so I may be mistaken.Comment

Hi, I've had my fare share of 899's and the fix that always worked for me was updating just the PCL firmware, package does not include PCL most of the time, I've attached the readme file and on the first fix you will see that 899 is one of them.Attached FilesComment

If Tonerhead's suggestion doesn't work, then going back to this part of your initial post, I'm 100% convinced this has something to do with how their IT has the printer configured on one or more PC's.

created a static ip range on printer and both laptops with adobe reader and a ricoh PCL6 driver - no problems
also no problems when printing via usb.Comment

Re: Strange problem IM C300 + Wifi = SC899
Your info says ver 1.11 from 2014
the ver on device is 1.08 so i exspect the 899 issue is covered
just checked the D0C95492K PKG file in notepad and PCL updates are in it.
Thanks

If still trouble, ask the customer to try a different browser. Also have them chose "print preview" then print the job.
Try to identify which computer is the culprit.Last edited by anothertech; 02-10-2022, 01:26 AM.Comment

Re: Strange problem IM C300 + Wifi = SC899
I fixed a few different Ricoh's lately that even with new firmware it still thru 899s, so I increased the buffer from 128k to 256 in the printer feature menu/ Host interface. They have not had any more 899 since.Comment

You could also try disabling the SNMP status on the configure port option on the driver, change IP address and network point.Comment

PCL6 driver Ver.1.55.0.0
IP port
Im still investigating - bit of an issue as they dont have any I.T cover and im covering all bases to make sure its not our MFP.Comment

Re: Strange problem IM C300 + Wifi = SC899
The file :httpd means something they are printing from the internet is causing the problem. First thing to check is make sure they have the current Ricoh driver, downloaded and installed from the Ricoh site and using the standard tcpip port.

the office is a hot desk work space.
multiple macs and pc's
I removed it off the network and all was good with my laptop and a user with correct driver and port settings
problem is they dont have I.T cover with us or anybody else! - so im making sure I have done everything to make sure its not our MFP.
Im going back in there with a small printer to see if we get a similar issue with it [ SP 3710dn ] as its nice and easy to carry up to the second floor
