Does it not start to be something repetitive, that several devices are giving error with online updates?
At the moment I deactivate the entire remote update process, and I prefer to update the firmware individually, as required and with my reliable SD Card. If it is essential, always the ENGINE, SYSTEM COPY, and those related to the network.
The truth is that little should need to be updated, when network protocols take years to modify. For example the SMB.

Same here. I ALWAYS update via SD or USB device. I also archive older FW whenever possible (just in case).

Spoke with Ricoh. Simple, short, and sweet response.... replace the control board, NV ram, and HDD individually in that order.

Were you talking to the Ricoh-USA support desk or to your regional dealer support person? More often than not the US support desk is just reading what is on their database and have been out of the field so long that they have forgotten good trouble shooting techniques.

Is it possible to get the ten key pad on the display? In this case it could be a chance to try the Yellow143+several times "C" combo to tell the machine not to display that message again so you can boot it with SD card and start the update from scratch.

FUBAR is military slang for "fucked up beyond all repair"...and they have a lot of them meaning almost the same.

Just spoke with one of my out of state teammates today.

He had a similar issue on an IM4000 when using the ACT function.

It updated OK (not known if it used the most current version or not), but SLNX got messed up, and needed to be reinstalled.

I checked the firmware history, and there was no mention of that wonderful little side effect.

Good thing he didn’t allow the same update on the rest of the IM4000s at the same account; they have a boatload of the little gems.

Yea, it was Friday evening before memorial day weekend. The tech was just trying to close the call. And the tech was 1st level support. I got a loaner in place. Ate up the majority of my day.

So after a bit of the "Waiting for update data" message i get the beeps and flash of red SC code screen. it displays then the "waiting for update data" overlay displays over the sc code display so its only visible for like a tenth of a second. so i turned my FPS up on my phone camera and recorded the screen. then after going frame by frame i can see its getting an SC878-01 which is USB flash error. I've never seen this one before.
