Ricoh 2238 email tab not appearing in address book

    Hi Guys

Has anybody had this before, installed a machine on a short term rental, a reconditioned Ricoh 2238 when trying to set up scan to email in address book management the email tab at the bottom along with a few other tabs are missing.

Im thinking with it being a remanufactured machine the previous kep op may have removed privilages in address book, but i cant find a way to bring them back.

I have tried reformatting HD address book even tried a full format still not email tab.

Any suggestions would be appreciated....thanks Chaps

Hmm, an odd one. Have you tried resetting the machine's defaults in User Tools? Oh and try resetting the scanner features in SP modes too, 5801 or thereabouts.

They're right off the top of my head though!

Cheers, was just looking thru the manual and noticed 5-801 15 , also 5 - 846 - 47 may do the trick....will try tomorrow thanks

I was thinking of 5801-009 to reset the scanner to default.

Seeing as it hasn't worked thus far, you could try using the web image monitor and see whether there's an email section there. Also, and I've never used this before so I'm flying blind here, has it got an LDAP server programmed? I'm just thinking that maybe you can't add addresses manually if this is turned on, but it's a long shot!

I'm still trying to find the answer to this - it's got me demented!

edit: Try resetting the System Settings to default in User Tools (press # whilst selecting "System Settings") if you haven't tried this already.

I tried 5 801 01 reset all, so that should have reset scanner default, you maybe onto something though if LDAP has been turned on by previous owner.

            Thanks

Can you scan to folder? Maybe someone removed the 256 memory. Maybe there's a problem with the sd card. I will try to upgrade the firmware, maybe the firmware got washed with the machine.

I have tried updating firmware today, reset system settings to default , swapped sd card with a machine that is ok. Also checked config against a working 2238 both had same memory 768mb and hd space.

Still no e-mail tab in the address book.

Also on the 3rd page of key op's where you would usually have the LDAP on/off setting this is missing (not grayed out ,but missing completly)

Remeber also this is a fault on 4 machines not just 1 2238.

So far Ricoh help desk have been no help.

Was the machine set up for a data security overwrite or anything before? If so, that would nuke your scanning capabilities if I remember correctly.

If I were you, I'd get a reference number from them, which I assume that you have done, then ring back and ask them to escalate it to a product specialist. They tend to be better on very specific oddities like this!

If that fails, put in a tech support visit request, but it's unlikely that they won't give you an answer before it goes that far.

I'm assuming that you don't have the email fields in the web image monitor then?

What a legend! Data Overwrite Security disables scanning to both email and folder amongst other bits and bobs, so that is probably your solution. You could check out the service manual for this option at s_dos_ab[1].pdf or, as it doesn't say how to do it in the manual, ring the Ricoh "help"desk and ask them how to turn it off.

A pound to a pinch of snuff that this sorts it.

A 1000 thank yous chaps, as soon as I switched off sp 5 846-90 Plain Data Forbidden. Everything came back.

Ricoh would have had me order NV Rams for all 4.

Big thank you for all your help, what a relief!
