    MP 3350

I have a 3350 with a jam code of J009 (duplex: no exit) single sided works ok. When running through the bypass it jams also (code J008). the copy sticks out of the exit of the duplex just as it starts to enter the copier about 1/4 of an inch. jams the same way everytime, it may get one copy through but it will not run anymore than that.. cleaned one way that drives the exit roller Duplex side, reconnected the connectors to BICU. any help would be appreciated..

You got it to feed duplex from the bypass? Are you sure?

If the paper stops in exactly the same place every time you have a sensor problem. If moves around a bit it's feed rollers or a clutch slipping.
At least 50% of IT is a solution looking for a problem.

not double sided through bypass only single sided. you can't do 2 sided through duplex.

Theres only one sensor for the bypass and that detects that paper is there. When duplexing it doesn't go near this sensor. I thought sensor also (in the duplex ) but I changed it out. I'm going to flash firmware and possibly replace the motor and change out the BICU

Thanks, is this located on the front side of the copier up above the fuser and is it tough to replace?

never mind I looked it up and see the part you were talking about. But how would this effect the bypass jamming, it doesn't go near that paprt..

If it jams in the duplex unit from the bypass, a gate in the interchange unit must be stuck open as it isn't supposed to go into the duplex from the bypass. This could be a broken/badly positioned gate or a sticking solenoid.

If it jams elsewhere from the bypass, it sounds like you have 2 faults on the machine. Try getting the duplex to work from the trays first, then see whether the bypass is working. If not, fix that as a 2nd fault.

                Sorry if this sounds patronising!

Fixed!!!! Found that the guide where the paper exits bypass and duplex was warped just enough to stall the paper going into the copier. we were able to work with it enough to get it running till I get another guide. thanks for the suggestions.
