Ok I've attahed the System Registry that shows the errors after the scan fails, but not sure how to identify what the error code numbers mean. Can you review and elaborate on what it is and the course of action that should be taken to correct the scanning issue?
Well the first thing that I see is that WSD is being started. Use WIM to disable it and make sure that TCP/IP is enabled.

The errors listed indicate that it is trying to initial SMB communication using SMB v1.v1.1. Even with SMB v2/3 installed man=y machines still try to initiate connection with SMB1 and then switch to the newer for file transfer. You may need to telnet into the C4504 from the command prompt and turn it off.

      Hi

Thank you for the scan. It helped with the Network firmware version.
If possible there's another page which is accessed by the Windows interface. It's called System log which is found under network. If you print that and scan it to us that could help.

From what you have uploaded could try the following. I know it's somewhat unorthodox

      1) Change DNS as follows
      Server 1 - 8.8.8.8
      Server 2 - 1.1.1.1
      Server 3 - 192.168.10.1

After you have set the DNS servers exit to the home screen and then re-enter the DNS server settings. Then try to PING or test connections with each 1.

      2) configure WINS server to 192.168.10.1

      3) go to Windows features and switch on smb version 1. Now test.

      Test scans.

Re: Ricoh MPC4504 No Network Connection or can't find on the Network

The MFP is trying to use SMB1 using port 139 (SMB over WINS). In the web interface you should be able to change the port to 445, which is SMB over DNS and the default for SMB2 and SMB3. Making sure firmware is up to date for all modules won't hurt either.

SMB1 is dead for any modern operating system for very good reasons.

There should also be events on the device you're trying to scan to showing that a device is trying to connect to it using SMB1.

If memory serves, SMB negotiates down, not up. It always starts with the most secure version and works it way down the stack.

That's correct. In this case, with port 139 configured for SMB, there's nothing more secure to negotiate. The MFP is configured to use TCP 139, so that's what it's going to try negotiating. The endpoint it's scanning to is dropping the connection because it doesn't listen on that port.

Port 445 can be set for SMB in the web interface, and if the firmware is new enough SMB2/3 support can also be enabled.

That's a great explanation. Over the past year I have talked shop with you a good bit and how you're able to remember all that stuff is impressive. I forget a lot of that stuff rather quickly.

Can we get a list of the firmware on the machine? This whole tread might be going nowhere because the firmware is not up to the job.

Ok I've attahed the System Registry that shows the errors after the scan fails, but not sure how to identify what the error code numbers mean. Can you review and elaborate on what it is and the course of action that should be taken to correct the scanning issue?
i quote everything the others have told you, seems like a port problem, can't resolve the name
                      - update the firmware
                      - check port 445 on mf
                      - try to create another ad hoc shared folder to try, maybe it's not a problem of the mf(?) try also using ip address, try, if you can, with another pc/laptop for test

If you tried everything that the engineers have suggested and still having a problem you can always try configuring ftp (scan to folder) .

It does work. Just watch a video on YouTube on how to

If scan is disabled in Scanner SP, it will affect FTP as well.

Make sure you get permission from the customer before setting up any kind of FTP. Most regulated customers frown on an unsecured service running on their network. Any halfway decent security applications will also flag it.

The fix for this issue is going to be enabling SMB2/3 either through firmware or the web interface, not looking at a scan method even more insecure than SMB1.

One other SP setting that should be checked, SP 5845 Delivery Server.
5845-002 and 5845-008 should be set to 000.000.000.000
5845-006 should 300, if set to 0 the message Delivery "Server not found" will not be displayed.

Thanks everyone for all your suggestions and input. The remedy was updating the firmware so as to be able to use SMB2/3 which allowed the scanning feature to work properly.
