mp c4503 multi page Portrait issue

single page portrait print or copy in speed drawer 1 or lct 3 okay, multi page portrait print or copy speed drawer 1 or lct 3 paper just makes it barely out of the fuser then stops like its the wrong size whatever,,,portrait multi page feed from bypass tray okay
Landscape from tray 2 multi page feed okay, portrait feed multi page feed from tray 2 stops with the paper barley out of the fuser. all set at 8.5 x 11 , paper is set to regular, if paper set to thin or thick, same problem,
re boot the machine ,it seems to work, when it wakes up from a sleep for a print job this is when it seems to have the problem, copy or print.

First in the future please avoid using terms like portrait and landscape for describing how paper fed. They describer how a picture in hung on a wall. Paper is fed as either long edge first, LEF, or short edge first, SEF. Since main tray 1 can only feed letter paper LEF unless you are loading half letter paper, I will assume that you mean LEF.

Jam code 018 is the lead edge late at the fusing entrance sensor which is located at the top of the PTR case. Since tray 2 does not jam, check SP 1003-001 thru SP 1003-004 Paper Buckle fray tray 1. Too much negative buckle can possibly cause the paper to be late. In only needs to be fractions of a second late to be detected as a jam.

paper buckle is at 0.0 in all cases except thick is at -2.0
its been rebooted on Saturday, ill see about it on Monday..
Fuser is not needing rebuild its in gr8 shape its at 28k..
again using SEF it does not malfunction
only LEF has the issue and NOT through the Bypass

Back to basics. Trays 1,3 rollers in good shape? Aligning roller is not covered in white coating? Might be a slipping or weak aligning clutch.

Since it works through the bypass, I would look at buckle or the tray rollers.

                Found this in another thread

Thanks to this thread I found 3 problems causing J018. First transfer roller assembly has cracked mount when under load, with pins bent. Second transfer belt cleaning assembly clogged. Third foremost of cause. Fuser brake cracked causing uneven pressure on fusing rollers. This problem caused pressure springs to go out of calibration. According to service manual these springs are non adjustable. I adjusted by eye. Machine is no longer jamming. Thank you to all previously posts for your help.
