After replacing the nvram on a Ricoh mpc4504ex all the apps and icons are in japanese. I have looked in the manual but with no luck. I have tried 5-009 to get language but that doesnt seem to do much.

Try the following(from the Operator Instruction Manual):Changing the Display LanguageYou only need to use SP 5-009 if the Language you want is not listed in the Change Languages Widget.
1. Press [Home] ( ) at the bottom of the screen in the center.
2. Flick the screen to the left, and then press the [Change Langs. Widget].
3. Select the language you want to display.
4. Press [OK].

Re: Ricoh 454ex with Japanese after nvram install
Found this on Ricoh's TSRC tech bulletin board..."I replaced the Transport IOB and the ribbon cable going from the Transport IOB to the Engine IOB to fix machine. Machine cycled initialized and all Japanese is now English. Had one that was resolved this way. If you unplug the ribbon cable you will get Asian language. (not sure which language)" worth a try maybe? Also try 5807. 2 for north america (your world view will vary...)Comment

It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Re: Ricoh 454ex with Japanese after nvram install
I replaced the nvram to get rid of the third party print software that I was unable to uninstall with any success...
In the end I just got it working by doing an memory clear All rather than just a memory clear engine. The machine came back up with the correct language after a reboot turning machine off and on.
Thanks for all the helpComment
