Ricoh MP 6002 Paper Tray Reset Message

There isn't anything behind the Tray, would this indicate the lift motor is defective or a sensor out of whack? Or is there a reset for this message?

    Thanks

Even though there is no paper behind the tray, check the interface connectors for a tiny sliver of paper in them. It's all it takes.

check the front end fence (dark gray) on the right side tandem tray. they break where the pin is or at the top where arm goes through sensors.
part number is B2476713 but check for paper also like he said. good luck

What exactly is the error message that you are getting. I cannot find reset (or reseat) paper tray anywhere in the service manual. If you are getting an SC 50X where X is the tray number you might have a defective lift motor. The Nylon gears tend to shrink over time and start to jump teeth when trying to lift the paper. Often if you pull the tray out and put it back in a few times, you can actually hear it jump. Use a new motor from Ricoh. If one sets onn the shelf for any length of time the gear may have already started to shrink.

It is the tandem tray rail. Screws that secure it at three points have been loosen.
Remove the lower left cover and pull all the way out tandem tray to repair it.
Very common on Martini series and take care to put the same screws.
