    Ricoh C3003 Developer Spilling

    Ricoh C3003

Developer is building up on magnet roller. Its causing print problem.Developer is spilling inside and coming on prints.2 New developing units have been replaced but the problem is still there. During normal manual rotation it is OK

What can be the reason? have to check H.T board or the drive?

    Any suggestions?

    Many Thanks

But the same dev units work well in other machine. If install in this only one dev starts depositing on mag roller. I think the problem is with the machine

can you post the service pm list from menu sp? so let's take a look at the status of the consumables.
are you sure that the one that falls is developer?
this type of problem can happen on the 3004, which have the "winding mylar door" closing system, when the units are new, (there is bulletin RD239095) but the 3003 does not have it.

Massive developer loss usually leads do diagonal light/white-ish lines at some point. It's also possible that a faulty drum unit can cause strange side effects with dev or toner.

When you try to use compatible supplies you are going to have problems eventually.

Yes I am sre its developer. It is same like when we rotate magnet roller in opposite reverse direction the developer starts gathering on the top. Same is the case with this one. When we install new dev unit. It gives print problem. So when we check it is caused by developer brush on the magnet roller. Rest of the brush is smooth and stable only from one end its build up (gathered there) that developer layer touches the drum and transfered to the belt from there to the paper.

The question is if it is due to compatibles then why the same dev unit is working fine in other machine. If you install the same dev unit in other machine it doesnt give any problems.

Yes.Thats true but there should be a technical reason for it. Why the same compatible dev unit works fine in other machine not in this one?

I'm not very convinced, if it were developer, and it passed on the drums, and then on the belt, everything would be destroyed in a few minutes, the blades, the belt, the surface of the drum, and everything else, are not able to resist for long to developer dust...after all, developer units cannot run backwards in the machine...
send us the pm status, I want to take a look.

Is the C3003 setting level? If not, gravity will cause the developer to migrate toward the low end of the DVU.
