    Recurring SC304 MP4000

Have a MP4000 that goes into a SC304 - copy quality is dark. I have been dealing with this particular problem for some time now - been finding that the mag roller coats over with a heavy residue and the copies begin to fade or band.

To date I have carefully followed all Tech Service Bulletins aimed at addressing this particular problem - cleaned and coated mag-roller (Rainex) - made all necessary SP value changes per RICOH - reset charge roller tab per tech bulletin - problem returns after two to three weeks.

As many of us know, this series has been a challenge - if anyone has any information they can share with regard to the SC304 I would appreciate the help.

Thank you in advance for any assistance that can be provided.

Check your drum ground and also look into replacing the developer or getting one of the new developer units. I've installed one so far on my highest volume machine and it seems to run much better so far. It's been almost a month and no copy quality calls as of yet.

Unfortunately I think the only resolution to your problem for now is to keep cleaning the mag roller off. Might be an idea to have a stand-by dev unit to replace it with to at least alleviate some of the problems you're having.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

        - ID sensor defective
        - Worn charge roller
        - Charge roller damaged

ID sensor may be covered in toner.
Don't take that toner with me!

I agree with rthonpm. I installed a drum grounding plate and replaced dev. Error code has not come back. Happened 3 months ago.

i have noticed on my smc report that the sp2001 for charge bias is at 2000 instead of 1500. when i lower it to default value it goes dark. but if i set it to 2000 then do a hard reset the copies look good. could this be a potential drum fail due to overcharge ? or is it dv due to mag roller issue ?

also, what bulletin # is it for the drum plate ?

            thanks

              Hi,
I'm also getting this code and am about to do a full pm on the machine ( dev.unit and powder, charge roller, drum and blade) where is the ID sensor located and the drum grounding plate?
