    Adonis p4 feint banding

    Hi guys,
Hope you can help on this one!! My collegue has said machine whereas its producing feint copies/banding intermittently, normally first thing in the morning. The hv board has been swapped and also the transfer clutch, still getting the same issue. Unfortunately i have no samples to post at this time.

    Many thanks in advance.

If its doing it only first thing in the morning then i'd be looking at the humidity, location, paper (take a ream to try it doesnt hurt) or it could be moisture on the laser slit glass.

2nd if possible rule out the pcu and try and stop it so you can see the image on the belt. My last P.O.S. had a s/h pcu and s/h transfere roller (the customer was upgrading) - had to order a new pcu as it was worse than the first one and the transfere roller was giving washed out/faint images.

If you can get the copy sample even better.

Thanks for the response mr bishop. I have narrowed it down to development drive, i did a copy and luckily it did the fault so i did another copy, stopped it half way and then noticed the copy was poor on the drum also. Then i separated the dev unit from the drum unit and noticed the mag roller was patchy, this was due to the large auger not turning (i hope) so i am ordering the large drive gear at the back of the dev unit. Its working fine since i put it back together...but im still replacing the gear!!

Also remove the black cover on the opposite end the the drive gears(ie at the front of themachine) there are gears in there which drive the paddle roller and augers. One of my most reliable colleagues tells me these can fail. Never seen this myself but it would prevent correct circulation of the developer and give banding.

I have removed the cover at the front and found a small amount of toner in there, which i know can cause the drive to become more stiffer than normal.

          Cheers

I've had a couple of dev units crap out on these, only a couple mind, it's not an everyday thing.

When you tip the dev out and turn the augers with the big white gear on the back, make sure that the inner corkscrew type auger turns along with the larger outer one.

I've had a couple where the seal goes at the front of the unit and developer gets into the gears that couple the two augers together and minces them. The dev unit is usually quite stiff to turn if there is quite a lot of dev in there.
