    Ricoh mp1100 firmware update problems

I have just updated all firmware groups on a MP1100 each group has loaded successfully, the last group to update was the system/copy. The display confirmed the update was successful I switched the machine off, removed the SD card and switched back on and now all I get in the display is the message please wait!! I have tried to re-installed the firmware but the machine is not responding. I have disconnected the hard drives but the machine does not flag any error codes. If i try and force a firmware update by turning on SW1 on the controller all i get is the error code SC672 controller start-up error. I have tried to force a re-boot using clear modes 143 cancel x5 but nothing seems to be working. Does anybody have any ideas?

The Katana firmware update can be a bitch!
I know several engineers that have torn their hair out over this.
It is very easy to get it wrong as the firmware should be loaded in the correct order - see the bulletin.
Once you have got it wrong then you may have to replace the controller and NVRAM.
The most common problem is to upgrade the system before the engine which also gives the please wait. This can be recovered by ordering a new system SD card and then upgrading the engine before the system.

Received and fitted a new system SD card today and installed both copy/system and engine firmware similtaneously and it sorted the problem.
Thanks for the advice, its a shame Ricoh don't mention this in the read-me files with the firmware. It could have been a very expensive repair.
