    ricoh mp 161 scanning issue...

    if you all would please, please help me that would be great... i'm a kyocera tech that just started working on ricoh's, i need to know how to set up scanning to a folder threough the network... i'm pretty network savvy but i really need to know the precautions/neccessities to set this up... its far a huge client of my office's... please help, thank you and god bless....\

    ricoh use's smb for scanning to folder. use the address book create the scan user and fill in the info needed like path user name and password. usaully we create a seperate user for scanning. the reason why we do this is if the customer changes there password you dont have to change the password on the copier you can just set it forget it. i usaully call the folder ricohscans and create a user called scan and make the password Ricoh5can then you dont have to remember it. there also is an option to set default smb user and password. Play around with it in your office at bit to get the feel of it. but yeah thier really isnt any tricks to it
