Have you gone into output mode (sp 5-804) and tried the fans, motors etc to elimiante the various parts and you can also try the waste toner vibration motor in output mode.

Was the noise there before the PM?

If so, could be the polygon mirror motor if the noise starts as soon as the machine boots from sleep!

Check the SMC report. Any SC320 codes or similar?

Input mode will not help you much. You can check the aforementioned components with Output mode as banginbishop suggested. Good luck.

            Hey!

Larger machine, faster motor, higher frequency!

            5804 141 Polygon M 29 Polygon Motor / 29.528
            5804 142 Polygon M 21 Polygon Motor / 21.850

            Worth a try!?!

I have a lot of these in the field and most noises come from the finisher which squeals just about everywhere but if you know it's a machine squeal than my bet is that is the upper transfer belt drive roller. Usually in the front. Pull the transfer belt out about half way and oil that silver bearing and the surrounding ones. You will know right away if that's it or not.

Huge thanks, it was from the transfer unit this irritating sound.
Sillicon fluid in the bearings/moving parts transfer unit and the
                sound was gone.
