    Oil Marks on AF 2238C

Has anyone been able to find an acceptable solution for the oil marks on the traill edge of the copies which align with the Stripper Pawls? Ricoh Tech Support suggested reflashing the Firmware (it is already the latest version). The Fuser Unit and Oil supply Unit (B1164285) are both new (less than 1K copies). The marks fade after a day and are almost invicible, but the customer (a walk up machine in a Postal outlet) was not happy with this solution. It is a low volume site (100 copies a day) so sits for long periods between copies. I have seen this on AP 3800C's, CL 7000's and any Ricoh colour that uses this style of Oil Supply Unit, so I know this is a common problem, but it appears that Ricoh has never addressed it. Thanks for any help or suggestions.

Are the copies exiting to the internal tray? This is just a machine limitation with this type of fuser and having to make the turn into that tray. The only thing you can really do is just try to keep those little fingers clean...

I have also found no solution except don't print to the internal tray. I'm guessing the initial supply of oil is too much and coats the picker fingers till it wears off. Maybe slightly used oil supply units might fix this, but I doubt that.

Yes. It is defaulted to copy to the Internal Tray. I will try your suggestion.

Check the fuser stripper fingers for white paper dust build up on the sides of the pawls. The build up sponges up fuser oil and smears it on your copies. Use a Q-tip/cotton swab to clean off the crud.

          Good luck!

The only thing I've heard is to remove the stripper finger assembly.

I know people used to do it on the AP3800c to stop jamming but I found they either run ok without them or jammed constantly. It depends on the paper being used.
