    MP4000 color scanning problems, SC143

    Hi there,

we've a MP4000 out there wich makes some strange image errors when using color scan. The problem occure just sproradically - we've tried to reconnect all cables involved to the scanner so far but the problem still remains. There's some SC143 listed in the logging data.

Before we start to change the suggested parts I'd like to know if someone already had to deal with that issue and can give us a hint what part may be broken. Please check the attached sample-scan.

We've had a few Alex's that have come up with SC143. Replace the scanner drive motor and drive PCB. With regard to the scanning thing, that looks like an alignment problem to me. Make sure the DF is sat square on the scanner. Also, check the scanner frame isn't bent from some heavy handed muppet leaning on it. I've seen Adoniseses do a similar thing.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

    Hit it.

Thanks for the hint - I'm not quite shure if the scanner drive can cause this symptone - if you take a close into the image failure you can see that there is no distortion - unfortunately I've blacked out most of the text so it's hard to notice that you can still read the text inside the miscolored area.

I'll keep this thread up to date.

Btw: We have now another SC143 machine out in the field - I think it's a MP2550 this time (discovered by the same work mate of course^^). The symptome is different on this, kind of a "digital" background according to the description i've heard.
