    1045 feint copies

    Hi guys,
I have a 1045 that prints fine, but when i do a copy they are feint and somtimes broken lines appear acroos the page.

Could this be the lamp? issues with ccd?

This is either on the glass or through the df.

    Thanks.

Lift up on the front left side of the scanner unit.
I have also seen the laser cause this problem.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

This is obviously a problem with your optics as the prints are ok. Thoroughly clean the mirrors, platten glass on both sides and blow out the ccd and lens area.
Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change.

I'm siding with the Irish on this one. But, I figured that would be obvious to you.

Could a dirty white reference cause this? Can't think of the proper name off the top of my head. The white strip underneath the glass.

Thanks for the replies so far.....

I have done all the above, cleaned the reference plate, ccd lens and mirrors and even tried the black streaking correction filter.

I have had issues before when the scanner droops on the left side but this is not the fault. I am going to try a new lamp and failing that, swap a complete assembly of another machine!!

You might try doing the laser pitch adjustment...the machine prints in 600 dpi and copies in 400 dpi. Just a thought.

              Good Luck.

Relax! This firmware injection won't hurt...but it will take 45 minutes.
