      Hi.
SC 542 is problem with thermistors . Go to SP mode (5-810) and reset sc code.If machine dos not have (5-810) then only to exclude button OFF/ON and then wait 20 second . After this start machine .If the machin stil have
this SC code then change the THERMISTORS

Replace the thermal fuse. They check fine with a meter but can't pull the current of AC when bad.
Put a paper clip in just to see if the lamp turns on.
DON'T leave the paper clip in the machine.
Why do they call it common sense?

If it were common, wouldn't everyone have it?

Check your machine and see if the Thermostat has tripped if so take it out and knock it hard on the floor till you can feel it is not dented in any more. If you still have no joy the you will have to look at you BICU board or your fusing unit connector sometimes one of the little pins bend.
                What? HuH?

Perhaps you ought to take another look at the lamp that won't light up. The problem has to be somewhere between the two screws for that lamp. Could it be it is connected to the wrong terminal? From what I can see, they should both be connected to the same terminals as the other lamp. Be sure to verify this for yourself as I have never seen a 230v copier.

Another thing...... it is possible for the lamp to ohm out ok when its cold. Conductors flex when they get hot.
