    Congrads!

I'm curious what was wrong with the PFU to cause a SC990 instead of a J003. Can you check for where a wire may have been pinched, and maybe check the motor for shorted windings?

Maybe I'm getting too geeky, but I hate fixing something and not know why it started working.

Normally I'd join you in those sentiments Shadow but today I'm just glad the #$%#@ is working again!

The word from the Product Specialist at Ricoh Oz is that there is some sort of tie up between the registration sensor and the laser start signal. At 90ppm it doesnt take much of a variation in the paper speed for something to get upset. He said its the sort of thing they would feed back to Japan and wait for the firmware update to come out. But as the 2090 is getting towards the end of its life nothing will probably happen so just feel sorry for the non main dealer techs that are going to be stuck with these boxes when they are well past their use by date.

Well thats it for me, its beer o'clock on friday arvo!
      Cheers.

Hay Shadow, I've just worked out its around mid night were you are, for gawds sake stop thinking about copiers and go to bed and get some sleep!

GMT-6:00 makes it 12:20 here now. Wife has the Flu, and my 2 year old daughter appearantly is getting it too, as she's been up and clinging to daddy all night...

I hope they feel better in the morning - If I take a sick day I'm gonna want to go fishing
Actually kinda felt bad today myself and its not improving.

I'll bet your machine is getting less than 208 VAC from the wall!

            Not likely for his machine...
The machines are rated down to 200v, and that's usually only a problem here in the states where the standard is 240V split phase (for 120v) and the machines end up getting wired to 2 legs of a 3 phase circuit - which is fine at nominal 208v but doesn't take too much to drop it down. In Europe, 230v is the standard wall voltage for just about everything and it isn't as much of a special industrial circuit to run a big copier.

as far as i have experience to bellini most cases on developer leakage drops from registration to feed unit causes jamming (jam code 12, 13, 52, 53)later on throw a sc 990...
fix the customer first then fix the machine... its simple and makes life more easy.

Firmware update was the first thing we tried. Since then the customer has done the right thing and updated the copier for a new pro series.
