    mpc3300 orinting problem

    Hi all,

I currently have a mpc 3300 which wont print. When i hook my laptop up to it i cant even ping the machine.I have replace the controller the nvram and the memory expansion and did not fix it.The only other thing i can think to order next is the bicu.Anyone encounted this before or is able to help.

    Cheers

I don't think the BICU is the problem. Check SP5-985-001 Device Setting. Set this SP to 1 to enable the NIC.

Have you tried to connect a laptop/computer directly to the machine using a cross-over cable?

yeah tried that and actually took the controller back to the workshop and was able to ping it fine from my laptop so ive rule out the controller so far.

Very strange case. If you can ping the machine in your workshop, then the machine should be OK. Maybe a firewall at the customer's network is the problem.

These machines can limit TCP/IP access themselves, thus preventing you from pinging, printing, or just about anything if you aren't attempting to connect from an address within its access control range.

The only way I know of to change or set up the access control is from WIM. Log in as admin, go to the configuration and then access control links, and then specify the range you want to allow access from or remove all ranges to allow open access.

You might have to try through trial and error to find an IP address for your laptop that will let you connect through the controls, but this sounds just like what you're experiencing.

I've had that before.....about 6 months ago.....Tried everything you had.....I called Ricoh TSC 3 times and finally got to second level support.

Now I can't remmber what I had to do.....Have you looked at the security settings on the touch screen. Set them to level zero. At level 1 or 2 a lot of things that had not alredy been configured will not work.

We have had a spate of machines in the MP color series that have come from the factory like that. I have not tracked the serial #'s so I don't know if it is a firmware from factory issue or a user setting that triggers this.

                  Good luck!

                  EDIT # # # #

Just got off the phone with a tech that had this issue on a AF3025. It had been moved from one office to another and stopped working. He put a new controller board on it and "WAHLA" it cam back to life on the network.

Just a thought to help narrow down the possibilities...

As most of the Ricoh line has a USB port, why not test printing using it?

That will point to whether there is a network issue or not.

                      Print out config page!

Print out a config page and double check what was mention in the previous post about the access control range. It should show up as all 000.000.000.000. Also double check that DIPRINT hasnt been disabled in the network setting via WIM. Try resetting NCS settings. Good luck
