    Ricoh Aficio 1027 jamming

Im struggling with a machine that keeps jamming as it exits the fuser.
It's very intermittant and I cant see anything obvious when it does it.

The lead edge of the paper seems to get about 2 inch out off the fuser and jams. Then when I open the side door it looks like the trailing edge of the paper has been pushed/driven as it is buckled but there is nothing obstructing the lead edge.

It's almost like the fuser just stops or slows down but thats just a guess as I cant see it with the doors closed.

    Any advise welcome as always.....

    Cheers,
    Lea

Pressure roller defective, very soft and "tired", can give random jams..
    Did you check it?

Also check that your customer didn't change the size setting in the paper tray. Also check in user tools to see if it matches up with whats in the tray.

If user used to have 8 1/2 x 11 setup correctlly in the tray then for some reason turned the paper in the tray to run short edge first (2 1/2 inches longer)the machine will think theres a piece of paper stuck on a paper path sensor because it's set to look for a 8 1/2" piece of paper not 11".

I would change the press roller. Had that problem before.

Agree press roller goes soft and fuser is hard to turn. I now install pm kit to rebuild because it has both fuser rollers, thermistors, transfer roller, p/u rollers and separation pads...pretty well all that screws up on those

sounds like the exit rollers are slipping and losing grip, look at tightening them, just an idea, rich

I had the same problem and the solution was the friction pad in the cassete of paper (behind-down of the feed roller).

One other thing i rememberd for jams on this series of machines in the fuser.Enterance guide needs checking and cleaning off. It might not seem that dirty but does cause proplems.

not a common problem. but would be worth removing the exit assy and clean and make sure all rollers are running free. make sure the fuser green release lever is up.good luck john

I've seen this several times. Both on entrance and exit gates.
They get hardened droplets of toner on the edges of the gate.
Clean and try not to leave sharp edges on gates.

Where does the logging data say the jam is being caused?? SP5990-4 If it says feed jam (03), I would agree with the sep pad causing it. I have had problems with the paper size sensors switching, even though the dial is set properly.

It happens all the time if you use the original squashy foam pressure rollers. That's why we fit the 270 rubber pressure rollers.
