MPC 2050 serial number

Does anyone know if it is possible to change the serial number on these machines without the machine flagging an error code of serial number mismatch??

The old ones had a bar code under one of the panels that got scanned on startup - no idea about these. Why would you want to change the serial number anyway?

I was asked the question by a trade copier dealer so can only assume they have some dodgy reason for wanting to change it.

I've never had a problem changing Serial Numbers on any Ricoh/Savin machine. There is no point to it unless you put some other machines NVRam in your machine. The counter will be all wrong. I think counters can be cleared, but getting into legal area. I'd tell him nope. Replace the NV RAM
