    PRO 1106 sc670

    Hi Guys

Anybody ever had a problem with a PRO 1106 that will self restart in the middle of a A3 print job and then restart the print job. In the SC history the machine gives a SC670*

    Any ideas

I'd start with the firmware first as its doing a soft reboot. According to the manual look at the bcu led103(red) if its blinks rapidly its a firmware fault

Does your machine have GBC options by any chance? The communication between GBC and host machine is not great and a misfeed between finisher and booklet maker will cause machine to do as you said showing "functional error" It will restart on it's own and log SC670

So far it has only happened on A3.
          No GBC options.

Mmmm... Tech sites have nothing of note but suggest BCU / comminication problem, so it may be worth checking connections. Could be a spooky signal from a paper feed station? try using another tray (Switch between the main machine and the LCT?) Also as suggested, firmware can't hurt (Usually!) I have had problems with the SR5000 exit shift motor causing a machine to "hang", which would produce SC670 etc after about 30 seconds. Is there anything else specific to this job? Is it a very large job which puts a lot of paper onto the finisher output tray? Does the fault occur early or late in the job? Duplex? Stapling?

the jobs are between 10 and 30 double sided A3 prints. each job is printed separately. (it is an overseas newspaper which the customer downloads from a website and sell to his customers).
mostly the print are made on a kind of paper to simulate a newspaper, but not as thin. It has also done it on normal bond paper. this morning he printed 5 jobs separately and the fourth jobs restarted.

I would try and change A3 to another paper tray, just too see what happened.

Switched the A3 to the second tray and it seems to be working. So if the problem is with tray 3, any ideas what can cause it?

                    AHA!

I would swap the paper feed stations (2+3) to determine if this is the problem.

Has the tray 2 feed station been removed recently?

I have seen trapped wires and loose plugs at the front of the paper feed staions cause similar problems, but normally aruond the tray 1 runners, it could be a timing issue if the unit is running tight and dragging. Is the feed station motor running freely? these are quite cheap (If similar to the MP6500 etc, no time to check) and should be changed if there is any dev spill in the area along with ALL the white drive gears on the unit.

Humm... be carefull you must update the Engine and System at the same time otherwise the machine will Stall. Just a reminder for those who come across and read this thread.

Slightly confused, the firmware fixed the problem??

I would be careful updating without reading the release notes first! and as imind says... sytem and engine together as per the manual!!
