    MPC4500 Jamming from tray 1

    Hi

I'm having a problem with jamming from tray 1, it seems not to be picking the paper up at all, heres what I have done:

    1. Swap paper feed stations from 2 to 1, no change
    2. Swap paper feed clutch from 2 to 1 no change
    3. Swap the cassette to another machine, no change.

If I run the output checks on the paper feed motor, it will feed the paper out of the cassette, so I think the paper lift is OK.

One of the problems is that you can't watch the paper feed working, like the other feed stations, so I can't see exactly whats going on.

As far as I can see all the semsors are on the feed stations so I don't think its that.
My instinct tells me paper lift, but I'm not sure.
Has anyone anu ideas. The jam code is 3 paper not exiting from the tray.

    Cheers

Just an update, I returned this morning, and took all the connectors off the I/O Board, and put them back on, hey presto it woked!

How bizarre. There is an RTB out for a similar problem to this, it's got to do with the feed sensors in the paper feed units not being soldered correctly. Might be an idea to chuck a pair in anyway just to cover your back.
It's 106 miles to Chicago. We've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

      Hit it.

That would be RTB27. It mentions something about the fault occuring with an LCT, but I've had it on two without.

            Cheers

But I'm not sure if this is the same, if you look at the picture of the jam position from tray 1, it shows a piece of paper partially fed. The fault I had didn't even pick the paper up.
Thanks anyway, I wasn't aware of this fault, handy to know.

            Cheers
