So far, So good! Both of our machines seem OK at the moment. The big test will be when they switch back on after Easter!!
MP6500 / 6000 / 6001 etc Fuser codes

Try SP1103 1 and 2 and change them to 60 sec and 3 to 120. The default settings are 6 or 8 sec and max 60 sec for 1103-3. This way the fuser will be force to idle for 1 min in normal mode and 2 min or more in low power mode. The fuser mechanical parts will worn out faster but the number of calls caused by SC 542, SC 545 and SC 555 will be considerably reduced. Together with 1107 temp adjustments, backed up with the new brackets and the new thermistors could be the definitive fix for these codes.Comment

Still haven't heard from my customer (no news is good news?) will check in the morning if I remember. I suspect the firmware has fixed it! If so, it wasn't thermistors or brackets causing the problem as we had codes from new (with modded brackets) and after latest thermistors, with or without fuser idle set.
I still think this a problem related to thin hot roller (no heat retention) only 2 lamps (same) machine speed and firmware (narrow temp detection band?) maybe the latest firmware compensates for temperature variation?.... time will tell.Comment

I have an MP8001 that codes 551 about every two weeks. I think the thermistors are just wearing thin. We just carry a set and replace them when it comes up. Its the only thing that fixes it. I have tried BCU, harness, thermistor brackets, reforming the brackets, kicking the shxx out of it. Thermistors and t-stats. Just replace them and go to the next one.sigpic

In the last couple of months I tried everything in my problem accounts: brackets, new thermistors together with the newest mods offered by SP1103 &1107, even the newest firmware for D062 (because only D062 has a firmware addressing fuser codes SC555). In most of the cases increasing the idling time fixed it but I still have accounts where from constant SC 542, 545 and 555's before....now I have SC 551's. Weird thing is this code is showing only on D052 machines (MP 6000 SP) but the code is not even mentioned in the Service manual. SC 551 & 552 are mentioned in D062 manual and are indicating defective thermistors. The only fix for it now is to replace physically the thermistors...cleaning them doesn't fix the problem. Firmware will probably solve the SC 555 issues but only in the D062 Series...I'm waiting with interest firmware updates for B140, B246 and D052 Series because are a lot more units in the field than D062's...and by the way all the previous ones are better than this new models ending in 1's.Comment

fuser codes SC555's etc.
Folks, try the following: ( got this from another guy who has been doing this)
- Update firmware to the most current version
- Install the current thermistors
- Reduce fuser temps by 5 to 10 degrees
- Reduce the "Fuser Ready" temp to as close to current fuser temps
- Increase fuser idling
- For machines with 2 fuser lamps, take the lamp mounted towards the exit side of the mfp to the position above the other lamp. So instead of your lamps being vertical, mount them horizontally (on top of one another)
As another step, DO NOT max the timer settings. Let the machine go into low power condition if it isn't being used at least once an hour or so.
I have had a lot of success with this. Hope this helps you.Comment

Energy save wake up = SC555
Along with the fuser temp adjustments I also go into user tools and set auto off to 239 minutes and energy save to 240 minutes. The problem occurs when coming out of energy save but not from a power up. I have not had any repeat codes for over 6 months.Net+ PDI+ @RemoteComment

I checked with the customer 2 days ago and he reports "no problems".
Since the 2 machines had modfied ("0") brackets on delivery, new thermisters shortly after and various setting changes, none of which cured the problem, I can only conclude that the new Engine firmware fitted over 3 weeks ago fixed the issue. (.....................?)Comment

I need the latest firmware update for the MP 6001, is there any way it could be sent to me? I hate dealing with my local Ricoh dealer and my operation and involvement with Ricoh machines is too low to become a dealer myself, so I must rely on the kindness of othersThe machine was installed 2 months ago and is now giving off the evil SC 555 error code. All of your fixes mention latest firmware update, so here I am begging for one.

About those new thermistor brackets................
I think we have all noticed there doesn't seem to be any difference in the size/shape of the new brackets. I was told during a conversation with a Ricoh rep that the shape didn't change. But, the material of the bracket is different to better retain their shape when they get hot.
That makes a whole lot more sense to me than believing what the TSB says about them being 0.5mm longer/higher.Comment

The 0131 and 0132 thermistors work fine, we're putting them in all our 55-70cpm models that are beyond the B140. You also have to set aof to off(i know it says always on), and set sp3904-1 to 1 and most important, check and adjust the height of the mounting bracket so that the actual sensor rides on the roller and if you have to (which i always do), slightly bend the thermistor away from the bracket to make better contact. One other thing, if it is a model that has only 2 heat lamps, move the 500w lamp to the upper position and that should take care of most fuser codes. And ALWAYS update the firmware.Comment
